War Powers, the Presidency, and the Consitution

Claremont Graduate University, with a grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities’ Summer Seminars and Institutes Program, is offering a summer seminar on “The President and Congress: Constitutional Principles and Practices That Have Shaped Our Understanding of the War Powers”. The seminar will explore the separation of powers as it applies to the allocation of responsibility between Congress and the president concerning national security and foreign policy powers.

Consitutional ConventionA two-week residential seminar will be conducted in Washington, D.C. from July 13 through July 24, 2009.  The project is directed by Dr. Michael M. National Endowment for the Humanities

The eligibility requirements and application instructions are explained in the Application Guidelines and the Dear Colleague letter. More details are available in the schedule and reading list. A selection committee of three members will read the applications to choose 15 teachers for the seminar.
